Evacuation Centers by Municipality

Page history last edited by KumamotoPA 14 years ago

Here are links for Evacuation Centers in Kumamoto Prefecture.  All of the lists are in Japanese (sorry), but I'm starting to work on some English translations which I'll post as I finish.  Please feel free to add any extra information you have.

Kumamoto City  (http://www.city.kumamoto.kumamoto.jp/bousai/hinan.html)

Kumamoto City has two types of evacuation centers, Wide Area Evacuation Centers and Temporary Evacuation Centers.  Both lists (along with maps) can be accessed at the link above.

Wide Area Evacuation Centers

Used when fires, flooding, etc. spreading throughout the city cause a dangerous situation for residents.

Temporary Evacuation Centers

Used as temporary shelter where residents can go to avoid approaching typhoons or other possible disasters.

Yatsushiro City  (http://www.city.yatsushiro.kumamoto.jp/ar/article_view.phtml?id=16818)

Hitoyoshi City  (http://www.fire119-hitosho.com/saigaitaisaku/bousai/hitoyoshi.htm)

Arao City  (http://www.city.arao.lg.jp/bousai/hinan1.html)

Arao has two types of evacuation centers (both listed at link above), Primary Evacuation Centers and Secondary Evacuation Centers.

Primary Evacuation Centers

Places where residents can evacuate to when typhoons, floods, heavy rain are approaching.  These centers are set up to accept residents who voluntarily evacuate.  In other words, nobody comes to pick you up, you have to get there on your own.  The site above also contains a list on items evacuees should take with them.

Secondary Evacuation Centers

Larger scale evacuation centers set up in the aftermath of large earthquakes and tsunami.

Minamata City  (http://www.minamatacity.jp/jpn/bo-sai/hinanjo_kakunin.htm#2)

Minamata has two types of evacuation centers, Typhoon/Heavy Rain Centers and Earthquake Centers.  Both are listed in the link above.

Typhoon/Heavy Rain Centers

Earthquake Centers

Tamana City  (http://www.city.tamana.lg.jp/bousai/kouzuihinan_map.html)

I've only been able to find flood evacuation centers/areas for Tamana.  They are listed with maps in the follwing order at the site above: Tamana
